Goal: Collaboration with partners in events and outreach programs
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

(In the context of T94165: Engineering Community quarterly review January - March 2015, WMF is changing its quarterly review process, and this is a goal task created basically after the fact in order to accommodate to the new process.)

The following text is extracted from the last quarterly review, and eventually fine tuned:

Expected impact: Identification of top communities we want to partner with

Success measures:

  • Active participation of upstream projects and established developer groups at the Wikimedia Hackathon in Lyon.
  • At least a third of our Tech Talks include non-Wikimedia speakers.
  • Survey to all WMF teams (non-tech as well), Wikimedia community, and MediaWiki Stakeholders Group to identify organizations we should partner with.
  • Identification of top 5 technical partners and first conversations established.

ETA June 2015

Qgil lowered the priority of this task from High to Low.May 29 2015, 7:32 AM

This goal didn't make it to the current quarter, but I see ourselves pushing for it again in the next quarter. In the meantime, I'm lowering its priority because it is not scheduled in any sprint.

I have a lot of ideas for this, I just have no time to focus on it yet. Hopefully soon!

Rfarrand set Security to None.
Qgil claimed this task.

I am declining this task, because right now it is not being particularly useful. We did involve other organizations in Lyon last year and we are trying to involve organizations in Jerusalem this year. However, there is no clear strategy direction providing the reasons to do this (we are being tactical), and beyond the hackathons we don't have any plans right now.

Let's put the focus on T124021: Define the Technical Collaboration team strategy and T124420: Technical Collaboration narratives and budget for strategic work.
