For at least two days now I am having hard time to add parent tasks to tasks, because the search completes very slowly (over minute) or not at all for some search queries.

So it's not that you are entirely unable to add any parent tasks, but that the "Edit Parent Tasks" dialog takes a long time to show any search results for your specific text queries? Your search looks for the text "translatewiki.net" in *all open objects* and that is a heavy search (takes 50-80 seconds here).
Adding parent tasks by not searching for some text but by explicitly entering task IDs still works for you, I assume?
Trying to add parent for this task, it took 30 seconds to return search results for T143862. That's not good imho.
Literally entering T143862 in the "Edit Parent Tasks" dialog, it takes less than two seconds to get proposals listed. Cannot reproduce that aspect.
Now it is also happening for the search box that is on top of every page. It seems to me that there is some queue system, and a slow query is there when searching for "affecting translatewiki.net" which makes further similar queries to time out. Right now I cannot search for "translatewiki.net" at all, not even via maniphest search. Suggesting to rise priority.
@Nikerabbit: Does https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/qHfJ8C2aAHVV show results for you? Because here it does.
I see this is also being discussed in T156905#2989711. And no, the link you gave did not load for me in a reasonable time.
curl -L https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/qHfJ8C2aAHVV > /dev/null still got no data for me after 5 minutes and counting. Perhaps this shouldn't be a "Lowest" issue.
@Nikerabbit: Meh. :( If you set " https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/ > Personal Account Settings > Developer Settings > ElasticSearch > Enable ElasticSearch", is it any better? (Last workaround idea I have.)
This task is about the "Edit Parent Tasks" dialog and I was trying to find a workaround, hence that specific query URL is unrelated to this tasks' priority.
ElasticSearch is now default for everyone (as of a little bit ago). Let us know if this is still an issue.
From my testing, this is now working much better. Every query I've tried returns almost instantly.
