@Bodhisattwa: Thanks for reporting this! Could you clarify if this is a new problem (regression) which did not happen a few days ago?

@Aklapper, no, this is not a new problem.

Ah. So changes were merged two days ago in T146675#2730283.
While no planned deployments of merged software changes took place this week, the evening SWAT deployment on Oct19, 2016 was used, as it lists kaldari: [config] 316486 Switching 10 wikis to numeric category collation per T146675.

@Aklapper, that was for numerical sorting in categories only, right? Was it also for File usage section in NS:File?

Those changes were for changing Category collation i.e. fixing the order in which entries in Categories appear. I'm not sure we have an immediate fix for the problem reported here. @kaldari should know more.

This bug exists on all wikis and is not related to category collation. Here's an example from English WikiSource:
https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/File:DOJ_Report_on_Shooting_of_Michael_Brown.djvu

It's probably not something we'll be able to get to in the immediate future, but it sounds like a good bug for a hackathon or volunteer dev.

It is about the "The following 87 pages link to this file:" section on a file description page.

The sorting is the same as on Special:PrefixIndex for this kind of file: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Page:DOJ_Report_on_Shooting_of_Michael_Brown.djvu/

This is possible to fix, when each page holds its own sorting information for sorting on Special:AllPages or maintenance list. This is not easy to fix. See T32753
