i18n for Montage via translatewiki.net
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In order to get Montage properly localised it should be translatable via translatewiki.net.

One way of doing this could be via Intuition

Event Timeline

Since the only strings are in the frontend it should be possible to run this with [[ https://github.com/wikimedia/jquery.i18n | jQuery.i18n ]] and then Hook it into translatewiki.net.

There's an issue on github related to this too: https://github.com/hatnote/montage/issues/20 We haven't done any work on it, but I'd be happy to chat if you're interested!

Sorry for the late reply. Still interested in getting localization done, but not sure if I can be of any technical assistance. Ping @Lokal_Profil and @Sebastian_Berlin-WMSE who might help.

I haven't done a lot with Translatewiki and never added it to a tool.

Setting priority low for this as well: we have a new back end developed for Montage, and I agree that it would be great if the front end could be connected to translatewiki, or would allow multi-lingual interface in a different way.
Afaics (but correct me if this is wrong) this would be a front end thing, which still needs to be developed (any takers?!).

Montage will receive a new front-end in Q3-Q4 2023.
