This is probably because MobileFrontend isn't running the same hooks that core does.

It's interesting that https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions gives:
No such page

Yes, that is tracked at T122949: Special:Contributions for unspecified users, or users that don't exist, shows a generic, unformatted error in Mobile. See also T122305: [EPIC] Make Special:Contributions in core mobile friendly
