svwiki - SE topic selection with 0 results displays "Fetching task suggestions failed"

Description

Log in to svwiki and enable Homepage (and Help panel)
Click on a user link (to go Special:Homepage) and click to activate SE
On the onboarding popup for topic selection select the first topic which is "architecture" - 0 articles exists with this topic. Click to select this topic anyway.
The results are failed to be fetched.

The Console displays:
Fetching task suggestions failed

Then, click on the username link again (or reload the page) - the server error is displayed (and there is no way to bring back Homepage - only to clear all preferences and enable it again). Simply disabling and re-enabling Homepage does not work.
