FWIW I would recommend doing this in Gerrit for now, just because that's where all of our current services are and how the deployment pipeline currently works. (Unless you're intending to be gitlab guinea pigs in which case, best of luck :))
Yeah, after a recent chat with Release-Engineering-Team re: this piece of the current Gitlab roadmap we'll probably have to, if for nothing else than general visibility and CR from... anyone outside of the Security-Team. The Security-Team is on the Gitlab early adopters list, for now, but more for our smaller tooling repos that nobody else really uses or cares about.
