Description

NOTE: Targeted deployment date: Monday, Dec 13. Confirm with Olga before working on and ensure T294926 is done first.

Background

This task will track the deployment of the sticky header to office wiki and test wiki for testing purposes

Deployment checklist

Ensure the following tasks are complete and signed off:
T294926: Sticky header: full feature QA
T294639: Schema QA sticky header instrumentation
T294924: Sticky header: full feature design review
T295972: Deploy sticky header to office wiki and test wiki
Make sure we are deploying to wmf13 or backport this patch: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/skins/Vector/+/747631 (without it we'll have errors in production on every edit)

Acceptance criteria

Turn the sticky header to on by default on pilot wikis for 50% of users
The sticky header is available to folks that have opted into desktop improvements on the remainder of wikis (except Commons and Wikidata)

Signoff criteria

Ensure there is a task in place to turn the a/b test off and complete full rollout >> T297924

hi @ovasileva - should sticky header be deployed to opt-in wikis as well? (for my edification, which are the opt-in wikis?)

Hi @cjming - so we would want the following:

pilot wikis (this list: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Reading/Web/Desktop_Improvements#List_of_early_adopter_wikis_(test_wikis)) - on with the A/B test on
everywhere else - on by default for logged-in users that have opted in to desktop improvements (which for the feature config I think means simply just "on")
