After updated to latest app version, and with some testing, it did convert, but there's a time lag. Like in the case of this video, the zhwp site stored the article in Traditional Chinese as 眾新聞, and this article name is shown for all Chinese sites options. Only after some scrollings, the entry name for Chinese (China) and such got converted into 众新闻, the corresponding Simplified script.

Also another separate thing I noticed while testing but not sure how to write a bug report on is that, for the article China, some interlanguage link do not show what language version of Wikipedia they are leading to:
