Consult with volunteers at partner wikis about enabling the Vector (2022) "Add topic" button
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

T267444 revises the appearance and location of the Add Topic button that appears on talk pages within the Vector (2022) skin.

This task involves the work of consulting with volunteers at Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias to learn what – if any – workflows this change breaks so that we can work to address these issues prior to enabling by default for everyone who has the Vector (2022) skin enabled (T331313).

Changes being made

For people visiting a talk page with the Vector (2022) skin enabled, they will notice the Add topic button will:

  • Appear above the page tools (e.g. Read, Edit, View history, etc.) and in the right-most (LTR languages) or left-most (RTL languages) position
  • Be styled as a blue button
  • Open the New Topic Tool (if you have the Enable quick topic adding setting enabled) or open the existing section=new experience (if you have the Enable quick topic adding setting disabled)
