As part of MinT for Wikipedia Readers MVP (T359072), the Search step (T359494) allows users to find articles to translate. In the initial implementation, switching the language using the "language tabs" results in the search query to be reset (i.e., becomes empty).
This ticket proposes to keep the search query and trigger again the search for the newly selected language.
The proposed behavior is intended to:
- Support cases where the user types the content in a specific language getting results form other languages and then selects the specific language to focus on those results. If the search term is removed, users have to type it again.
- Be consistent with the visual hierarchy. It may be unexpected that switching a tab affects elements above it.
