As part of MinT for Wikipedia Readers MVP (T359072), the Search step (T359494) allows users to find articles to translate. Depending on the user search query it is possible to find no results.
In the initial implementation the lack of results is only communicated by the list of results being empty. This ticket proposes to provide a "no results found" message which communicates this more explicitly, and surfaces alternative ways for using search.
Searching across all languages | Searching in a specific language |
---|---|
No topic found for “<search-query>” [in <language>]
Search in other languages, use a Wikidata identifier, or paste a <project-name> page link.
The message follows a similar approach as used in Content/Section Translation, where:
- <search-query> is the text the user introduced which is shown to help identify typos.
- <language> is the language name of the selected language. If the "All" option is selected, the language-specific part is not used.
- <project-name> the current project name such as Wikipedia.
