Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Propose a set of metrics along with qualifiers to be used in the WMF's press kit or as part of keynotes to a broad audience. I imagine this ticket is mean for Research to work on. Let us know otherwise.

Grabbing the task from Erik as I'll be drafting the proposal based on Erik's input shared late last week.

Update: We met with Neil from Editing and discussed the Editing related metrics.
Next steps:
There are at least 3 different definitions for how we can compute the total number of active Wikimedia editors:

We will compute the numbers based on these definitions for months of May through October. Dario, Erik, Neil, and I will meet to discuss the best choice of metric/qualifier to propose.

draft 2-page proposal sent to @JKatzWMF, @Tbayer, @Neil_P._Quinn_WMF, @DarTar, and @Nuria for their final review and comments and hopefully soon blessings. :)

This task has been assigned to the same task owner for more than two years. Resetting task assignee due to inactivity, to decrease task cookie-licking and to get a slightly more realistic overview of plans. Please feel free to assign this task to yourself again if you still realistically work or plan to work on this task - it would be welcome!

(For the records, two emails were sent to assignee addresses before resetting assignees. See T228575 for more info and for potential feedback. Thanks!)
