Description

I suggest creating a component for the Assert library

Example tasks:
T226266: Create a phan plugin to handle the Assert library
T247093: Add Assert::UnreachableException
T250776: The $description in the Wikimedia\Assert methods should be callable|string
T267952: Release mediawiki/assert 0.5.1

See T91071: Introduce library for assertions for parameter validation and post-condition checking for background. Currently, there does not appear to be a common tag for these tasks that relate to the same codebase

Makes sense to me; however wondering who are stewards of that extension (if existing) and what they think (as it touches their workflow)

Yes, having a proper project for this would be nice to match the other PHP libraries. I don't think there's a real maintainer, maybe @daniel as the primary author, it's just collectively maintained by MediaWiki core devs.
