Please implement the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting
(OAI-PMH) on Wikimedia's sites.

There are guidelines at
http://www.openarchives.org/OAI/2.0/guidelines-repository.htm

This would allow Wikipedia et al to be part of archives such as the digital
library at http://www.citidel.org/

I've played a bit with this implementation (LGPL license) for my day job:

Disclosure: I submitted a patch or two a while back and they added me as a
developer on the project. :)

No, not really.
Turning this into a tracking bug. I've left bug 41532 out as it's only about our internal use of OAI for search.

I don't see what this task is about / asks for exactly. It's likely not asking for yet another extension (though it's tagged as such); its subtasks are resolved; https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/OAI-PMH is obsolete; https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:OAIRepository exist(ed); MediaWiki-extensions-OAI is archived. Related tasks which are more actionable and clearer exist (e.g. T166166: Figure out OAI-PMH endpoint compatibility for Commons). This task is tagged with All-and-every-Wikisource, if there is something about OAI-PMH and Wikisource then someone please elaborate what it is, because the task doesn't tell. Thanks.
