Our documentation in scattered around namespaces in mediawiki.org:
- Talk_pages_project/replying
Extension:DiscussionTools/Reply_tool_visual_mode_limitations- Help:DiscussionTools
- Talk_pages_project/Feature_summary (seems to overlap content with Help:DiscussionTools)
Generally I think anything under [[Talk_pages_project]] and sub-pages should be limited to high-level project work, reporting, community consultation, RfCs coordination etc.
Any documentation of features and limitations of things we have built into Extension:DiscussionTools should be in Help:DiscussionTools and sub-pages.
We will be making changes to MediaWiki core, but these features can be documented elsewhere (e.g. changes to the parser, signature linting). If required we can announce those on [[Talk_pages_project]] and/or sub-pages.
We should also review the links we have in the software. Currently a lot of these point to the project pages (e.g. Talk_pages_project/replying). Project pages are going to be short-lived for the duration of the project and eventually become stagnant. In the long term help links within the tool should point to documentation at Help:DiscussionTools or sub-pages.
To-do
- Merge Talk_pages_project/Feature_summary in to Help:DiscussionTools
- Update links in code and in on-wiki configs to point to Help:DiscussionTools
