[SPIKE] Explore making the bottom sheet draggable to reveal article contents below it
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

During usertesting, users attempted to interact with the bottom sheet to drag it down.

This task is to explore the tradeoffs of making the bottom sheet draggable and alternative ideas for small screens.

Event Timeline

Note from Robin:

If draggable sheet is not feasible: Consider a max height of the bottom sheet in order to not cover the article completely.

If we implement the undo and there is no more swiping then the draggable component could work. This ticket is dependent on T278501

This is the screenshot from a small screen device, and I've discussed with engineers and noticed that the bottom sheet is designed to be not scrollable. Would it be better if the bottom sheet is scrollable?

@cooltey, ideally, the bottom sheet is draggable and has a max height (on smaller devices), see T278455 or this video that illustrates the behavior.

Looking at your screenshot, I don’t think that a scrollable bottom sheet would solve the issue. I’m wondering how the two different scroll areas (for the article and the bottom sheet) would work in a case like on this screenshot? Could you elaborate, please? Thx!

We explored this and determined that we can't have a draggable bar. For that reason we are going to optimize a design for small screens T280151
