During the discussion, it turned out that it is not yet possible to connect external gadgets to the DT toolbar: T265981: Provide an API to hook into new reply editor. This can be critical as chrome makes cyrillic links unreadable and and Russian has a different typography than default.

A couple of comments and a follow-up question to what you shared in T311967#8140322:

1. You can expect the Editing Team to implement the API T265981 describes. I expect us to be able to prioritize work on implementing this in the next month or so.
2. I do not expect the Editing Team to be able to prioritize work on T313165 in the near-term

Question: assuming the above sounds good to you, do you have any preferences for when the Reply and New Topic Tool deployment happens?

While you think about the above, I'm going to:

• Talk with the engineers on the team to learn what – if any – changes are necessary to ensure the Reply Tool uses * to indent comments people post with it. I think the answer here is "no changes are needed" and I'd like to confirm.
• Revise the scope of T297410 so that it includes the deployments of both the Reply and New Topic Tools

It's just that this thing would be very useful to many wikis, I hope it will be implemented in the future.

Understood! If all goes to plan, the Reply and New Topic Tools will become avail. this upcoming Wednesday, 17 August. I've revised T297410's task description to reflect this deployment date and the deployment of both the Reply and New Topic Tools.
