During the team's 1 February meeting, we reviewed designs for a future state of Edit Check wherein there are multiple checks in place.
This led us to wonder whether there is a threshold beyond which the number of checks people are being presented with has a net negative experience on them and the wikis. Said another way: the number checks causes people to abandon, what might very well be, useful/productive edits.
In line with the above, this task involves the work of implementing the instrumentation necessary for us to know how many checks people are being presented with during a given edit, so that we can make decisions and answer questions like the ones listed below.
Decisions to be made/Questions to be answered
- 1. Of the edits that people publish that are not reverted, how many edit checks, on average, are they presented with?
- 2. Of the edits that people publish that are reverted, how many edit checks, on average, are they presented with?
- 3. Of the edits that people start making and abandon before publishing, how many edit checks, on average, are they presented with?
