Risky Patch! 🚂🔥

  • Summary:
    • This patch refactors the top level request handling for index.php. It moves all code from MediaWiki class into either the new MediaWikiEntryPoint base class, or the new ActionEntryPoint subclass.
    • In theory, there should be no change in behavior. If I missed something, we may see issues related to request life cycle management:
      • before/during setup: action handling, redirect handling, output buffering.
      • after/during teardown: error handling, execution of deferred updates, database transaction management, and cookies.
    • NOTE: This will break flame graphs until the relevant patch for arc-lamp is deployed, see T354217
  • Test plan:
    • Manually test on beta.
    • Manually test on testwiki once the train rolles to group 0 on Jan 9.
    • All page views hit this code
  • Places to monitor:
  • Revert plan:
    • Ideally, identify and fix the specific issue.
    • If possible, deploy a revert of the patch.
    • If all else fails, roll back the train.
