Overlapping page elements when previewing source edits with 2017 wikitext editor mode
Closed, DuplicatePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue:

  • Enter an article page
  • Open source edit while having the 2017 wikitext editor mode enabled
  • Do some sort of edit so that you can press "Publish..."
  • Press "Preview" and observe atop the page

What happens?:
There is an unfortunate overlap (z-index?) of page elements at the top of the page, which might render the text difficult to read or interact with.

Jon Harald Søby mentions that using dev tools when looking into the issue does not replicate it.

What should have happened instead?:
Ensure that an overlap doesn't happen, or that elements are hidden in this mode.

Other information:
I have tested using Google Chrome on nowiki.

Jon Harald Søby has also tested using Firefox 118.0 with Ubuntu on enwiki, his screenshot:

This has already been fixed by T348288, and was thus presumably a symptom of the ongoing reorganization of overlays -- the fix will be going out next week on the normal deployment schedule.
