MinT for Wiki Readers MVP (T359072) is intended to help human readers to easily access more content from other languages. The initial enablement of the entry point at the article footer for MinT for Wiki Readers (T363338) resulted in more requests than the MinT server could handle. In order to serve as many people as possible, we want to avoid unnecessary requests.

This ticket is focused on avoiding machine translation requests from bots, web crawlers and other automated systems. The MinT for Wiki Readers Translation view should be limited to human access.

As an initial step, we may want to check how much bot-related traffic the feature got so far, to have a better understanding of immediate impact.

Other automatic agents such as bots may be allowed to access machine translation in the future though an API, but the web interface should be limited only to human access.
