Enable full-screen mode on tablets
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Migrated from: https://wikimedia.mingle.thoughtworks.com/projects/multimedia/cards/449

Narrative

As a tablet user, I can enable Media Viewer's full-screen mode, so that I can enjoy a truly immersive experience.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Enable full-screen modes on tablets

Note: We may have disabled it because we were worried that users couldn't figure out a way to get out of that mode, but I really don't think it's an issue if we allow tapping anywhere to show the hidden buttons.

If controls appear on tap, there should be no problem providing the feature on touch devices.

for those not supporting a native full-screen mode we can still provide a chrome-less experience (without metadata panel and hidden controls) that gets close enough.

Mass-removing the Multimedia tag from MediaViewer tasks, as this is now being worked on by the Reading department, not Editing's Multimedia team.

In one of the rewrites, the fullscreen button probably got activated, but this introduced T364942: Fullscreen mediaviewer hides controls on touch devices and they cannot be shown again
