Could you make the following updates:
Mon, May 27
Hi @DDeSouza, adding another request:
Thank you, Leila. I updated the post and I shared with Mako and CR for their review.
Sun, May 26
Could you please add the table in this doc to a Schedule tab on the website?
Please also add the following to the News section with a link to the Schedule section:
Fri, May 24
update: we have over 80 people who registered. Schedule is finalized and I will be sending that out next week as part of the advertising efforts.
update: held a Tuesday research session with the team discussing how they imagine the future of the Wikimedia Research Communities. Notes are in the following docuemnts-
Thanks for opening this task, Leila. I am linking a (private) document containing notes I took on things that can be improved or addressed in future rounds. Not everything is urgent or important.
May 17 2024
@leila if you don't object, I want to close the sub-tasks and change this to a regular task (ie not an epic) to include all updates on this work here. I think the split in the sub-tasks is a bit unclear since some of the things are happening simultaneously
update: we have 72 registered participants and I continued to advertise. I also reached out to @Cervisiarius to ask him to assist with spreading the word :)
May 16 2024
@DDeSouza can we update the call-to-action on the top of the site to "Register for Wiki Workshop 2024" with a link to https://pretix.eu/wikimedia/wikiworkshop2024/?
May 12 2024
Resolving this since the mediawiki page is indeed updated.
Thank you @Isaac for your work on this!

Some are in the "Twitter" tabs and others aren't. And the same meta-data is included in both sheets, with the "Nomination" sheet having extra columns such as a summary of the research and reason for nominating.
Apr 30 2024
I have finished my part in adding the metadata. Please note there are two tabs- one for the publications gathered from Twitter and another for the nominated papers. Here is a link to the spreadsheet- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1weSvMJNuE0VvfIkDwngFiZ4bJ0kLRJ-svh-JUxeefXY/edit?usp=sharing
everyone's hours are updated and moved over to the new calendar feature. I'm resolving this task now but please reopen if needed.
Apr 29 2024
@leila @mako this is the draft for the blog post announcement (it is also in our shared google drive). The structure is very similar to the Diff post from a couple of years ago and also incorporates the information requested in the description of this task.
In terms of the funded projects- I went off of the decision file you have in the drive, I imagine this is not final so we will need to update the draft according to these decisions.
Let me know what else is needed and I'm happy to upload this to Diff once you give the green light.

Bidding Stage
update: registration site is ready and will go live next Tuesday, April 30 along with communication that registration is open.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Research_Community_Vision_and_Strategy has been deleted.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Research/Research_Community_Mapping is the updated destination for community mapping.
I made a request for https://research.wikimedia.org/foundational.html to be updated.
Apr 21 2024
update: due to other priorities and more urgent tasks, I will pick up this task mid-May.
Apr 19 2024
update: spreadsheet with metadata is in the private WMF-RAY folder. I still need to organize the data of the nominated papers from OpenReview so the spreadsheet will be finalized in the upcoming. Regardless, it is ready to start going over.
Apr 17 2024
Sounds like a plan. I added this to my tasks for next Thursday when I'm back from vacation. I'll start a short draft and share with you both so we can get it on Diff ahead of April 29.
Apr 16 2024
Thank you for taking this on, @Isaac! I think this is a nice improvement for the page.
Would it be possible to add the theme of the showcase to its subpage title so that it reads something like Showcase/2021/01 - Addressing Gender Gaps? Not a big deal if it's not possible, but I think it would help those that prefer skimming vs. using the search functionality since the latter can be a bit confusing sometimes.
Regardless of whether it's possible, I don't think this is a blocker and I like the idea of archiving anything pre-2024 and announcing this in tomorrow's showcase so people are aware.
Apr 14 2024
update: I've prepared the communication plans for registration, as well as the word documents and slides which are relevant at this time. @leila, I'll add this item to one of our coordination meetings to make sure I'm not missing anything.
I expect to be able to finalize many of the skeletons during May, when the Research Track and Hall will be set.
@leila, I think that's a good approach. When we have the last project completed (which could still take a couple months), I'll come back to see if it makes sene to do some post like this, but I will decline this task for now.
Apr 12 2024
@leila Nearly everyone updated their availability and moved over to the new calendar. We're missing just a couple of folks and @Miriam and @XiaoXiao-WMF will be following up with them. I hope to resolve this when I'm back on Sunday :)
Weekly update: none
Weekly update: none on my end, will pick up on Leila's points above next week
Apr 11 2024
Hi @leila. From a bit of testing on my end, I suspect you are right about the appointment slot vs. schedule issue so I reached out to folks to both update their offerings and switch over to avoid the login requirement.
I will come back to this later today/tomorrow to make sure this is done.
Apr 8 2024
update: I still didn't progress with this. I will move it to next quarter and devote time to going over the information and gathering the basics.
Weekly update (missed from last week): awaiting final comments from Leila, after which I will summarize the learnings and open a new task for developing an updated roadmap(s)
Thanks, Leila. I requested deletion for the Meta page of the previous vision and strategy and moved our new mapping under Wikimedia_Research. Additionally, I added this topic to our Research Staff meeting on Wednesday. I will resolve this task in ~1 week when the deletion goes through properly.
Apr 2 2024
@leila I added a basic acknowledgement in the following doc- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E-hkKvUu87cy_tIKInRAmbK5O123Jc5oMzt2Eb0hJXE/edit. When you have time, could you please take a look?

Mar 28 2024
Weekly update: most of the working document is filled out. Will discuss with Leila how to proceed with this next week
Mar 21 2024
Weekly update: shared the working document with the team and scheduled time for review and discussion during next week's Research Session.
Mar 18 2024
I am resolving this task since swag was sent for Q2. Given it only happens on a quarterly basis and is relatively small- I will add it in my personal tasks and not on Phabricator.
Mar 15 2024
Weekly update: I prepared a document to capture the learnings in a direct manner and scheduled calls for next week to discuss this with the researchers on the team.
Mar 14 2024
Nomination process has been launched. Announcement can be found at- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VD-EUrcWQ001j46rGrv-l-40BmwVIIYSAzCZW30XRQ0/edit and the submission venue is- https://openreview.net/group?id=wikimediafoundation.org/Wikimedia/2023/RAY&referrer=%5BHomepage%5D(%2F)#tab-your-consoles.
Deadline is April 18, 2024
@DDeSouza can we update the call-to-action on the top of the site to "Submit your Research Award of the Year nomination!" instead of the current "Follow @WikiResearch"? It should link to the following page- https://openreview.net/group?id=wikimediafoundation.org/Wikimedia/2023/RAY&referrer=%5BHomepage%5D(%2F)#tab-your-consoles. Thanks!
Mar 1 2024
Weekly update: discussed this with Leila and planned how to launch this work. I will aim to gather insights on what was achieved, and what wasn't, in the previous roadmap within the next couple of weeks.

Remove reviewer access to bidding stage before it opens
For Wiki Workshop, we decided to work with the bidding system. We've set the dates so this stage won't be open before the submission deadline, but reviewers had the option to add bids regardless. In order to fix this, we entered the Wiki Workshop 2024 Research Track Reviewers Bid Invitation and removed the reviewer group from the readers and invitees.

Jan 25 2024
Thanks @leila and @Cervisiarius.
Jan 22 2024
Both venues have been set up.
Jan 16 2024
@leila @Cervisiarius - We might be a bit late with the proposal review because our meeting with ITS in regards to the technical support for the Hall got postponed. We should have everything ready by the end of this week.
Jan 15 2024
Agree that "black with underline" is easier on the eyes.
The discussion pages have been updated. See example here- https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:Programs/Wikimedia_Research_Fund/Participation,_Engagement_and_Diversity:_a_study_of_Wiki%E2%80%99s_community_building_%26_integration_practices_in_GLAM_projects
Jan 12 2024
Set up the first venue which will be for the Research Track. Awaiting OpenReview's confirmation in regards to the venue name.
I will change the PC assignment and open a second venue for the Research Hall when the above is complete.
@leila
I've asked Daniel to make the following updates to get things going-
Jan 10 2024
@leila Sure, I can pick this up. I may follow up with you on the process but otherwise I'll keep you updated here on the task.
Jan 7 2024
@leila @Cervisiarius we expect to send you the updated proposal within a week (by January 15).
Dec 22 2023
update: received information from Asaf. I plan to use the quiet week after break to go over the information and share here.
