I finally had time to test renaming. This is what I did:
@Lectrician1 I assume this would also require a Mediawiki extension to have embedded Matrix chats. Something like Element (https://github.com/vector-im/element-web) can probably run in an Iframe, but it would probably be nicer if there were a frontend that integrates into Mediawiki.

@Tgr https://github.com/maubot/maubot looks like an easy framework to write bots. Is there a list of bots that you think would be needed? Searching for Wiki article is one thing I could think of. Or adding links for Wikidata Q-IDs?

Here is a short summary that might enable us to close this task, as Synapse now includes an OAuth / OIDC plugin that seems to work well with Mediawiki:

@Tgr Thanks for the assessment. I think I also started from the Github example weeks ago. This config allows me to use the provider and start Synapse:

@Aklapper I guess the tutorial is mature enough to not need a ticket open :)

After a couple hours of figuring out how Riot is stitched together (and how React works) I have a login screen with an OAuth button.
Nov 3 2019
I now have Riot running in the browser connected to a local matrix instance. In order for people to use OAuth the clients also need a way of initializing the OAuth registrations or login. I will try to integrate that into Riot first.

I am still working on setting up a development environment for Synapse, but would like to work on this. I also got some help on the

I just stumbled over a use case that woud perhaps also benefit from structured diffs.

@Aklapper I was unsure where to post this. Do you have a suggestion. Definitely could be a talk or discussion at the next Hackathon.

@Aklapper I think we can close this. FYI: I opened this issue mainly as a project idea for the hackathon, but then we prioritized some other things.

@Chicocvenancio I don't know. I don't think it was on the official schedule and there was so much going on :)

WMCON is using a buddy system to introduce new people to the community and make people feel welcome. Maybe something we could introduce at the welcome desk?

The postgis database backend of Django is based on psycopg2. Probably it would need to be re-implemented in py-postgresql. Not sure how much effort that would take. Will think about it or maybe look for another hosting solution.

It would be nice to see instructions on using the shared MariaDB/MySQL database servers as the data store instead.
@bd808 I would still like to leave this task open until the workshop at the Prague and Vienna hackathon is over to see how well the tutorial works with a live audience. Are there any things you you think the task still needs?

Possibly related to Task T76229 (and https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Infobox_Tutorial), where we would still need some more examples of pure Lua infoboxes. But the page (and talk) page already have gathered a lot of expertise and would be worth expanding.

@scfc Should we perhaps close this issue. It seems the issue I had with the paths has been solved and it is now also documented on the wiki: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Tool_Labs/Web/Kubernetes#Django
It might be helpful if we had a dedicated person for these issues, that can also be contacted privately and also during the event.
I think that a dedicated skill-learning room would be good. People can look at the schedule and choose what they would like to learn. Maybe in a 2 hour cycle. 15 minute introduction. Then the people that want to work on something stay in the room with the instructor. That also means that each instructor is just 2 hours away from their main project.

The patch was accepted. Thank you for all your help!

Thank you both for the review. I will see what the maintainer of the library has to say and will close this when it is merged and no other questions arise.

Sorry. I forgot that I registered like this: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Tobias47n9e
@akosiaris That would be great if I could get an account and the information on how to access the database from wmflabs.

@bd808 Thanks for the pointer. This time I finally got it to work. I still had issues with the ~ path. Using the absolute path works:

Another question is how we identify items of isotopes. There seems to be no consensus how to use p31 and p279 for isotopes (Including some poorly thought out edits by me). Right now I would favour constructing the tree like this example:

@TheDJ: Thanks for the comment. I know the ecosystem is large and complex. And the best way to keep everybody on the same page in such a system is good communication. I am being extra outspoken about this, because there are many people, that were users of that app, that never knew what happened to the app, don't know what Metawiki is, and certainly will not comment in a bug tracking system.

I think it should be more a discussion about the needs of the community. If the community wants a certain app or a certain function in the app, then WMF should allocate funds to such a project.
Can somebody post a link to where the community voted to discontinue the Commons app?
