I think this is a great call, @EMartin; several of us on the front-end testing side feel that our conversion rate from banners (e.g. donations on payments wiki over visits to payments wiki) is lower than we'd expect. The PAN field is an obvious source of friction. TY for making this request!

Let's talk about this on Monday. we've had a few course corrections and last minute stuff come up in the last few days. We need to give the team a chance to work through stuff already in the sprint. Worst case scenario this can be implemented right before or within the first few days of the week of the 23rd.

Respectfully we'd like to take advantage of these requirements around the
National ID in S.A (removing the field) and pushing the envelop by calling
out the optionality on the India ID. We feel these are critical to
campaign performance and should be prioritized. So sorry for the last
minuteness of these topics but we'd appreciate if you can fit them in
BEFORE the campaigns on the 23rd. Many thanks.

Hi fr-tech, currently all of our India banners point to a payments.wiki variant variant:'panExplain'
Will these changes be made to that variant as well?
That would be great, then we wouldn't have to update banners.

I would also be happy dropping that variant completely if this language can be included on the default form for India. My understanding is that specifying a non-existent variant will simply fall back to the default, so we don't need to worry about breaking old links.

@Pcoombe yep, we will remove the panExplain variant when we make this edit and make the explanation appear by default. As you say, non-existent variants are just silently ignored.
