Description

In September 19 , we will deploy "add an image" to these Wikipedias:

Greek WIkipedia el
Polish Wikipedia pl
Chinese Wikipedia zh
Indonesian Wikipedia id
Romanian Wikipedia ro

This is the engineering task, the associated CRS communication task is T301601.

The feature should be available on both desktop and mobile.
For newcomers who get the Growth features, half should have 'add an image' as their default task type.

Acceptance Criteria

Given I'm a newcomer on el, pl, zh, id, ro Wikipedia,
When I visit the newcomer homepage,
Then there is a 50% chance that I will see 'add an image' as my default task type.

Completion checklist

Functionality

  • The patches have been code reviewed and merged
  • The task passes its acceptance criteria

Engineering

  • There are existing and passing unit/integration tests
  • Tests for every involved patch should pass
  • Coverage for every involved project should have improved or stayed the same

Design & QA

  • If the task is UX/Design related: it must be reviewed and approved by the UX/Design team
  • Must be reviewed and approved by Quality Assurance.

Documentation

  • Related and updated documentation done where necessary

The deployment for rowiki was broken due to too many templates being set in the excludedTemplates field by a community admin. I made a fix for that, and left a message on the talk page for the user.

I checked for tasks at each of these wikis.

I told pl, zh and id that it is deployed. I'm waiting for more QA investigation to deliver my message to el and id.

I forgot to add: for the two wikis with no tasks, I actually can't find the tag in RCs. Maybe there are tasks done, but apparently they aren't tagged.

On elwiki I can't find the "Add an image" task in the "Select types of edits" in newcomer's homepage.

It may be because you are in the control group: we only offer the feature to 50% of accounts, to test it out. But as I write this message, there is still zero edits made at Greek Wikipedia.

I see one edit tagged in Recent Changes for Indonesian Wikipedia.

The functionality was checked

  • desktop & mobile
  • a new account was created -and got Add image group
