<gallery> images are skipped, leaving captions behind

Description

PDF excerpt for galley in URL

I'm not sure why the images of the gallery in URL are skipped, maybe the GFDL license trumped the CC-BY-SA; however, it's not pretty to leave behind an incomprehensible bullet lists containing the captions.

Parsoid doesn't have native support for gallery tags yet, that might be part of the issue here.

I don't see the relation between this problem and T124876?

@ssastry @cscott what's your take?

Yes, T124876 is not related, but we now have <gallery> tag support in Parsoid (T110910: Implement <gallery> extension natively inside Parsoid). So, this should no longer be an issue.

As already announced in Tech News, OfflineContentGenerator (OCG) will not be used anymore after October 1st, 2017 on Wikimedia sites. OCG will be replaced by Electron. You can read more on mediawiki.org.

Going to https://it.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antigua_Guatemala#Galleria_d'immagini nowadays and using "Download as PDF", this problem does not happen anymore now that we use Proton and Electron-PDFs on Wikimedia servers. Gallery images and captions are included:

Declining this task as OCG has been dead for years and superseded by Proton and Electron-PDFs on Wikimedia servers.
If there is still an issue with currently available PDF export on Wikimedia servers, then please file a new ticket with updated information and steps to reproduce. Thanks!
