After an article has been created, suggest translating it to another language
Open, MediumPublic

Description

After an editor has created a new article (using wikitext of VE), the editor may be interested to translate it to a different language. The system can suggest that possibility.

Some considerations:

  • The suggestion can be shown in-place (e.g., a callout menu asking the user to translate) or using a notification.
  • The suggestion may be restricted to articles that are long-enough. We may want to postpone the notification until the article has grow a bit more: an in-place suggestion when the author does its 10th edit on the article he created, or a notification when the article gets over a given size.
  • The suggestion should be restricted to users that know a language in which the article can be translated using CX.
  • The suggestion may include other options described in T87867 such as ask another user to translate it.
