Event Timeline

I'd like to propose T314634: "Citation Hunt" but for Toolhub as a project for this Outreachy round. Details to be determined; the info below is WIP and likely to evolve:

  • Project title: Create a Web App to edit Toolhub records
  • Summary: Many tools in Toolhub have missing or incomplete information. While editing this information directly through Toolhub is possible, a more streamlined and gamified way with a dedicated UI could make the process more fun and overall easier. This idea is directly copy/pasted from the wonderful Citation Hunt, a tool for adding missing citations to Wikipedia.
  • Skills: Intermediate Python and JavaScript, plus some HTML & CSS. Ideally, some familiarity with Flask & Vue.js or at least the willingness to learn. Design/UX skills welcome, but not required.
  • Possible co-mentors: TBD. The dream is to co-mentor this with a technical volunteer. I don't have anyone in mind, suggestions are welcome. Alternatively, someone with frontend/design skills from another team in Tech or Product.
  • Microtasks: A PAWS notebook with different tasks around extracting and displaying data from the Toolhub API

@Slst2020 Wow! This is a nice idea and seems to fit well the scope of an Outreachy project <3

For recruiting mentors, I've got a few ideas:

Also, when you feel ready w/ the project details here on Phabricator (create a separate task), follow Step 4 here to upload it on the Outreachy site. I'll then review and approve it!

@srishakatux Thank you so much for the great suggestions! <3

@srishakatux I am also going to mentor one project. Details will be shared. Please consider one slot for our project.

@Jayprakash12345 Okay, done deal! If you could create a Phabricator task in a week or so that will be helpful.

Hi all / on behalf of LGBT+ User Group and QueeringWikipedia organizers I would like to (re) propose:
Hybrid event production for QueeringWikipedia 2023 with Outreachy intern

Wikimedia has selected six Outreachy interns through December 2022 - March 2023 round to work on technical projects:
