Let Special:MyLanguage be used as a redirect target
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

I've created a redirect on Meta to have a shortcut to a translated page.

I've created https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Codfw with #REDIRECT[[Special:MyLanguage/Tech/Server switch 2017]] in it (diff).

I expect someone who click on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Codfw to be redirected to the page written in their language. The page is not redirected. A new click is needed.

I've removed the special:MyLanguage from the redirect and now it works, but without a redirect to the chosen-by-user language.

This works in my test wiki, but not on meta. Maybe there is some difference in configuration.

It's not $wgInvalidRedirectTargets because it still shows as a redirect (which the pages listed in there don't do), and I don't see that option customised anywhere.

Nemo_bis renamed this task from Action Special:MyLanguage in a redirect to Let Special:MyLanguage be used as a redirect target.May 4 2017, 7:36 AM

Special:MyLanguage is in core, I am still puzzed by the difference in behavior.

Yeah it looks the same. This task seems to have more information that seems to point that this is WMF-configuration related issue.
