Mentor tools: create mentor's dashboard
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Here is a full project page for this idea, containing notes and sketches: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Growth/Mentor_dashboard

Per discussion with @RHo. This dashboard can mentors allow to:

  • view activity of their mentees
  • view list of their mentees
  • view mentors' stats (I mentor X newbies, and they made Y edits, with Z pageviews)
  • ...?

There are work-in-progress patches for this feature, begun by @Catrope and @Tgr:

Marking as revisit for @RHo and @MMiller_WMF to have a look and triage for a future quarter.

MMiller_WMF renamed this task from Create mentor's dashboard to Mentor tools: create mentor's dashboard.Sep 23 2019, 9:52 PM
MMiller_WMF added a project: Epic.

This is an epic that may be a future major project for the Growth team.

@Zoranzoki21 @Acamicamacaraca -- please put any notes here of anything in particular you would want to include on this dashboard that would be useful for mentors.

@MMiller_WMF This would be great if done, I will consult with other users which are mentors right now, so I will convey their opinion here.

Update: I done this here.

I want to point out, after a discussion with @Trizek-WMF regarding this, that I conducted a survey in the Hebrew Wikipedia about the community's view of the newcomers' features some time after they were deployed to our wiki, and it was raised quite a lot (before the survey and in it) that mentors don't know their mentees and the mentees' contributions and would like to know this information. Therefore, these features are very much requested and needed in the Hebrew Wikipedia, if not in other wikipedias too.

Therefore, these features are very much requested and needed in the Hebrew Wikipedia, if not in other wikipedias too.

This is needed everywhere, not just on one project. And it would be great to someone do this as soon as possible.

Your motivation is really hearty!

I work on a plan to deploy the features to more wikis. However, and as you already know by experiencing it, there is a lot of work to do to have the features being deployed (translations, choose of templates, gathering mentors...). We need to reduce this work, and find new ways to have communities being onboarded.

Let's pursue this conversation on wiki!

For clarity purposes, I ventilated the ideas listed there as tasks or sub tasks of T239234: [EPIC] Newcomer homepage: Mentorship dashboard.
