It's not a problem in Safari on iOS, so it doesn't seem to be an across the board issue. And I think external maps should be visible as well.

Good question for Product! I can say that the focus rectangle has always been this shape so it's not a recent regression, but +1 that it looks bad. It's an artifact of how Kartographer draws the drop shadow, and it might be possible to work around with clever CSS.

To clarify though: I think this is a nice to have. I've added it to the help text, so if this doesn't work for some reason, then the option to use local is still covered in some way.

I don't think local is the default. It should be the content language of the current wiki, which is why this option is preselected. So I wouldn't add any empty option.

@lilients_WMDE I think if the ordering is with the language name first and code following (as specified), the prefix search is acceptable. Infix search might be more ideal but I don't think it's a reason to choose a different component. I'm guessing there is no option for infix with combobox?

Moved caption help text to the caption ticket

@WMDE-Fisch Have you looked into the pin grouping used in the Places tab of the iOS app at all? I think the balance is working quite well there (when to group, how many to group, zooming). Can we either use that library or check their variables to re-use?

I took a look at the image caption version and it looks like it includes everything. Everything seems like it could be relevant other than some items in the insert menu. Is this what you are referring to? @lilients_WMDE

@awight I don't mind where it is. Here or in story time is fine for me. Would just like to agree on a location where they can be collected and I can go through them all at once when I'm back to working on the design of the pin grouping. If there are any which are needed for the POC, then please mark those as well.

Alternatively we could also maybe simply add a text that frameless maps can not have captions. Or we could change that behaviour and allow captions for frameless maps. Why not? 🤔

The wikitext editor used in media settings contains many elements that we might not need in the caption (e.g. tables or templates). I checked and it is possible to exclude single elements or simply define a small set of functions we want to have. @ECohen_WMDE Let me know if you want to exclude some. We can have a look together at the options (it is a pretty long list).

For the POC it would be great to collect all these questions as they come up and just implement the default for now. (Or maybe that's what you were doing here @awight ?)
