@Nuria Hey hey ~ That is the summary, which I can't suppress. I can put different text in there though if you have a couple of sentences you think would best summarize the article; let me know, and I'll add them.
Also, posts in the tech blog all have a main feature image at the top? Is this something you want to pick? I can choose something if not. Here are the image guidelines: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_technical_blog_editorial_guidelines#Images_used_in_your_post
We don't have a plugin for footnotes, but I'm pretty confident I can do them manually with anchors.
Thanks! I took a look, and (what a delight!) this was really well written with only some tiny grammar issues. Great work on this! I made a couple of suggestions -- if you can accept them. Then I can move this over to the blog to prepare for publication.
@egardner I requested edit access for the doc if you can please grant it to me. I only suggest edits and leave comments, so you will be able to review and accept them.
Thanks, @ssingh! I've addressed these issues. I did have to replace the formula with an actual image, as the formatting was not copying over from the doc, and I wasn't able to format it correctly as text in the blog. Let me know if this looks okay to you!

Okay, I'm going to call it a derivative of this logo (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo-v2.svg) and attribute the image with the censored label to you @mforns.
@Nuria this is now ready to go. And I can publish it tomorrow (Friday) -- I just need a little more info about the images.
Thanks @egardner (sorry about the delay). I will take a look at this and provide some suggestions and copyedits.
https://techblog.wikimedia.org/2021/01/14/2020-coolest-tool-awards-thank-you-for-the-tools/ This is posted. Let me know if it looks good, and I will share it out.
@Jhernandez thanks! The post is great! I made some changes to grammar/style for consistency. Can you accept these? Then, I can move this over to the blog for publication
@Jhernandez I am copyediting this today. Can you give me the license information for the 3 images in the post? We try to include the title (w/link to the original image when possible), creator, and license with each image.
@Nuria sorry! I've been super busy and distracted this week (and missed the notification from Phab).
Jan 13 2021
We can make this happen. I will work on the initial edit this week, and we can do the final editing when I am back from PTO on Jan 21.
Jan 12 2021
@Aklapper, I expanded the license information. Let me know if it looks good.
Jan 11 2021
@AnneT This sounds like a great post! I agree we should get it posted soon (since 2020 is now in the rearview mirror).
@Aklapper I published this. Will you take a look and let me know if you see any errors before I announce it widely?
Jan 8 2021
@Gbahdeyboh Do you have an image in mind that you want me to use for the featured image for this post? We follow these guidelines for the blog:
Jan 7 2021
Resolving for now. I believe the technical document review process was covered by our GSoD project this year.
Closing this as it is outstanding and being covered in other ways.
2020 is over!
Jan 5 2021
@Aklapper I think this is pretty close to done. Can you take one more look at it?
@Nuria Happy New Year! I'm back from vacation, so let me know when you believe the post is ready, and I'll take another pass at it.
@Daimona Just touching base to see how you are progressing on this. Let me know if I can be of any help!
Closing this for now.
@WDoranWMF Touching base to see if this is something you plan on working on this quarter?
Jan 4 2021
Sounds good. I will take a look at it this week, and we can do another pass once it is closer to publication (in case anything changes with the portal between now and then)
Dec 18 2020
@ema these should all be fixed now. :-) I'll send out an announcement today.
Dec 17 2020
Ah! Thank you for catching that. I fixed both of these.
@ema I published this. Will you look it over and let me know if you see anything that needs changing or fixing before I announce it?
Dec 16 2020
I looked at the doc and was able to copy edit it! If you are able to go through and accept changes in the next day, I'm confident we can get this published before I leave for vacation.
Dec 15 2020
Hey all ~ Just a reminder that I will be out of the office until Jan 4 beginning this beginning Fri Dec 18.
Dec 14 2020
@ema Awesome! Let me know when your first draft is ready. Looking forward to reading and editing this!
Dec 9 2020
@Nuria I suggested a bunch of small changes. Can you please review and accept or decline? Overall, this looks good and is really interesting!
Thanks for creating this, @Gbahdeyboh! I'm going to set this for us to publish around the first week of January when Google officially announces the program outcomes. That way we can also include a link to that in the blog post.
Dec 4 2020
@Nuria Good to hear from you, and awesome! I look forward to reading this! I'm will look at it early next week for suggestions and edits!!!
Dec 3 2020
Resolving -- descriptions updated.
Dec 2 2020
Nov 30 2020
Resolving.
Nov 25 2020
@Daimona This sounds like a great idea for a post! Do you want to write the first draft, and then I can provide suggestions and copyediting.
Hi @ema I have published this: https://techblog.wikimedia.org/2020/11/25/wikimedias-cdn-the-road-to-ats/
Nov 24 2020
For the featured image, we typically use a photo (though there have been some exceptions).
Thank you for updating the slug! This is now re-published! https://techblog.wikimedia.org/2020/11/23/web-performance-case-study-wikipedia-page-previews/
Nov 23 2020
I just went through the post and did a search and replace for "Page previews" and changed it to "Wikipedia page previews" including in the title. Do you feel this resolves the issue?
@ema do you have any preference for a featured image? If not, let me know, and I will pick one.
Okay, I switched this back to draft for now, because that seems like a big-ish issue.
Great! I'm going to prepare it today and publish it on Wed 25 November.
@Nomsterio Hi Noam! I just published this: https://techblog.wikimedia.org/2020/11/23/web-performance-case-study-wikimedia-preview-popups/
Nov 20 2020
Also, if you feel like this will be of interest beyond the tech community, we should consider cross-posting the tech blog post to Diff. We can reach out to them once the post is drafted.
Just let me know when you are sending the other announcements. If you want to draft the tweets/FB announcement, we'll post them for you!
Would you like to share the announcements out on our Twitter/Facebook channels as well?
Perfect! I'm moving this over to the blog for formatting and plan on posting on Monday 23 November! I Will let you know once it is published!
One idea, for the featured image we could use the big version of the Sloth/Anteater photo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Myresluger2.jpg
@Nomsterio I saw that you accepted changes on the doc -- If you feel this is ready, I can move it over to the blog to post early next week. Let me know.
Great! If this talk does go forward, I propose we move it to (FY 21 Q3 or Q4).
Nov 18 2020
@eprodromou Touching base on this. If you want to have this posted by the 30th, I'll need a draft by early next week.
@Nomsterio I went through and made some additional suggestions. Once you accept them, I think this will be very close to done!
Nov 17 2020
@ema The post is really solid and just needed some mild copyediting. Take a look at the suggestions and accept or decline what you like.
Nov 16 2020
@Nomsterio I took a first pass at this. Please don't be discouraged by the number of edits/suggestions. :-) The post is good and super-informative! It just needed a little more organizational structure. I made some additions and some obvious edits and would like you to go through and accept or decline my suggestions. After it will need some wordsmithing and editing, but I'd like to see what it looks like with the adjusted organizational structure.
