Wikidata documentation sprint
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The documentation sprint is a session that will take place during the 3 days of the hackathon. Its main goal is to improve user-documentation about Wikidata and Wikibase.
Anyone is welcome to join at any moment during the event, join a team or not, work on one of the suggested topics or not.

We will build a list of tasks with the community, so participants can work alone or in teams. During the sprint, we will also organize short workshops about useful tools (e.g. translation tools, illustration). Organizers will provide advices to help participants to build a good documentation. Non-tech people welcome. People will be able to attend remotely.

Event Timeline

Lea_Lacroix_WMDE renamed this task from Documentation sprint to Wikidata documentation sprint.Feb 28 2017, 10:28 AM
Lea_Lacroix_WMDE added a project: Wikidata.
Lea_Lacroix_WMDE added a subscriber: Trizek-WMF.

I have experience creating short demo videos about Wikidata. Will bring my recording equipment to the hackathon (= my laptop and headphones with integrated microphone).

What demonstration videos would be useful?

@Spinster That would be wonderful! We can think about several small tasks that users often do, such as creating a new item, merging two items, adding interwiki links, etc.

Hello! Just letting you know that you can schedule this session now for the hackathon. Instructions and scheduling can be done here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2017/Program#How_to_schedule_breakout_sessions

@all the persons that worked on documentation during the hackathon: here's the document to prepare the showcase, add your project! https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/Hackathon_showcase_2017

For information: the task about the next documentation sprint, that will happen during Wikimania hackathon 2017, is here :) https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T170071

Assuming this has taken place, hence closing task as resolved.
