By the way, because this is an infrastructure patch (via SRE) rather than MediaWiki, it means it does not have a train to "ride". Instead, I have cherry-picked this in unmerged state from Gerrit to the servers that control the Beta Cluster. When SRE deploy it to production (next Monday), they will merge it in Gerrit. For infrastructure changes like these, merging in Gerrit is roughly equal to immediate deployment everywhere.

Checked the scenario in the task description on testwiki wmf.18, wikitech wmf.18, and enwiki wmf.18 for Safari/Chrome, on iPhone and browser emulators (to check User-agent in the request headers.
The testing is done for non-logged users.

Just to clarify - if a muted user was thanked on edits on user talk page, the thank notifications would come even if a user sending thank is muted (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Notifications#mute). Can you provide details on from which page the 'thank' action was made?

Confirmed on cswiki wmf.17 on the desktop too - the error is present.

Checked the steps on iPhone 11 (iOS 18) - the Chrome option "Request desktop site" doesn't do enything.
