Oh, I created https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/493981/ unware of this one. It contains another link fix but does not contain the editorial fix.

Someone has to actually run rename queries, I am not sure if Operations is the right choice but hopefully some hints are made.

I've created https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:AbuseFilter/192 to mark new pages adding "cx-segment".

@Reedy , while I agree with the first clause of your statement, I must correct the latter one: Beta Wikiversity is not a beta wiki for testing stuff like testwikipedia or testwikidata are. It is a full fledged content Wikimedia project being that to separate Wikiversities what Wikimedia Incubator is to separate Wikipedias, Wikivoyages, Wiktionaries, and Wikinewses.

Well, unlike the Wikidata Service all queries run by others are visible. I tink it is better to work towards search and facilitation of better query description than this.

With the above in mind I have decided to see what happens when I have JavaScript disabled. It looks that the URL indeed does not change. That being said I still see Main Page instead of the Special page.

perhaps verbatim punjabi.wikimedia.org?

This might as well be some faulty rewrite or other server misconfiguration, thus adding Operations.
It seems that to observe this bug the permissions needed for actual page usage are not necessary. You either get redirected to main page when this is observed, or get permission error.

As a workaround it is still possible to use API for this. You can use your favourite bot framework or Special:APISandbox:
- https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ApiSandbox#action=query&format=xml&list=logevents&leuser=Base is used to get all the log actions with their ids (change Base to username of the user needed),
- https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ApiSandbox#action=revisiondelete&format=xml&type=logging&hide=comment%7Cuser copypaste here the ids retrieved above, make sure the token field is auto-filled.
I experience this on Meta as well. I also observe it on outreachwiki and wikimania2018wiki.

The ISO 639-1 code for Punjabi is obviously pa, the respective Wikipedia is linked in the description, but the problem is that it matches PA — the ISO 3166-1 code for Panama. For this reason, I think, that pa.wikimedia.org should be reserved for a future Panama affiliate, and a different convention used for language based affiliates, such as pa-lang.wikimedia.org or something along those lines.
What is the current progress? From what I see mentioned here, a simple database migration has to be written to change be-x-old to be-tarask in several tables as well as in already generated json-blobs. Is it that difficult a task? I realise that a CLI script doing something like this might end up running for a while but I do not see evidence that it is really a blocker here. What can be done to facilitate this moving forward?

Okay, if it is a conscious decision rather than an overlook it is fine.
Well, by what you have requested only admins (администраторы) and autoreviewers (автодосматривающие) will have the rights but not editors (патрулирующие). This makes rather little sense.
What you probably mean is for autoreview AND editor to now have the rights. Could you confirm?

This would kill their purpose, some deal with thousands of pages, rewriting them with such throttle would make them unusable for any practical purposes.
Erm, so I guess goodbye Cat-a-lot and VFC? Why was this decision made despite what @Dereckson wrote above?
Jun 25 2018
@TheDJ , a lamp or whatever else suggesting highlighting without looking as something already present else would perfectly do.
Jun 18 2018
So it is ok to force juggle icons for millions so that thousands do not suffer from change? This is a corrupted approach.

Perhaps it's "easier" to create an extension which adds magic words for such common strings?
Magic words? Like to have à la {{#wmmsg:Done}} or something?

How is Vikidia different from Wikijunior already hosted on Wikibooks? I do not really get why you add the ns to Wikipedia. Well, whatever, as long as it is not a tab to an external site as proposed initially.
Apr 2 2018
At least none I can see :(
Mar 13 2018
Basically people with ns8 edit right can just edit sidewide js or default gadgets and admins can also edit other users' js. It is cool to have sanitisation given it works well, but it is not a big priority :)

Hm, I would rather leave it be too. For what it is worth, Translations namespace itself attracts more vandalism.

It was no more off-topic than your uncalled and unwanted warning. I feel being harrassed by you.
Could you link to the community process by which the etiquette was approved as the policy?

The users were raped into using the new workflow. The reason few users knew how to use the old interface bacause the way is the obscure get request instead of proper preferences setting or better still in-interface switch.
@Nikerabbit, direct going was working accross projects, i.e. I could follow a memory on Meta to fix its source at Incubatorwiki. Does the special page provide this functionality? It is a serious limitation if it doesn't.
I see normal algorithm as provide additional interface, provide all the old one's features there, make it default, provide new features there, disable old. I do not see why it was so hard to follow, stem 2 was skipped almost completely, the thing I mentioned is just a random one of many things yet not implemented, the making default step was damn too early, and now you are already diaabling the old one completely. This makes translation administration harder, not easier. E.g. Just a couple of days ago I had to suffer from how difficult it is to split a translation unit in tux with the unit containing the old text always folding while another one is active (even though the selection is kept)

Ah and the last example is not present in http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation/common-notation-for-fretted-strings#custom-tablatures so that is probably the only thing added in 2.19 regarding this
The second screenshot is something I have seen while experiencing T179941 (which I do not currently as my non-persistent linux distro is reset several times since reporting that task)
All the examples from
Seem to work for me: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/User:Base/Pond (except for probably the last one)
What am I doing wrong?
Nov 30 2017
For future reference, links are welcome that allow reproducing. In this case, https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets so others don't have to type that in manually after looking at the provided screenshot.
It would really not harm for the devs to check all of the Special:Preferences to find what is on the Screenshot (though it is clear which tab is open) as they apparently never properly did it before. At least unfortunately I have a strong assuming bad faith feeling like this I cannot cope with.
First of all I want to make sure we are on the same page. This task is about the "Download as PDF" sidebar option: currently, Special:ElectronPdf; before a recent update it was a different special page. Is this what you are about as well? It feels like you are talking about a different thing which makes it difficult to address your points.
As the screenshot is from enws, also adding Wikisource.
Nov 27 2017
@Aklapper, no, I see this as a blocker, because it is a function which was present in the interface being deleted and not present in the new one. It seems logical to have it solved first. It is not a general inquiry.
How do I navigate to messages I see in Translation memory in TUX? In tux=0 I could click the bullets.
On-wiki is in my opinion better option if you want to ask other people to review the translation, otherwise choose whatever works for you better. Well as to segments you can just download the whole page (i.e. like the one you linked), why do it by segments?
Nov 26 2017
Makes sense to me, for some heavily translated stuff AllPages is very difficult to use.
Nov 25 2017
It's caused by the trick we use to replace the dropdown arrow icon with our own.
Am I the only one for whom this hints an obvious solution?
Nov 17 2017
No, you leave $link untranslated, but sandbox you translate, for example it would be [$link пісочниця] when translated to Ukrainian (and everything else is translated too).
Dollar signs are translation variables (tvars) they are used to shorted some text such as urls which besides might be updated without the need of updating translations. They should be used in translation unchanged, for example when translating from English to Spanish $world must remain $world and not $mundo or $ world or anything else.
Nov 14 2017
Perhaps something like top of admins by blocks of people with more than N edits (e.g. 500) would reflect "social" rather than CVN related blocks better.
Actually people performing blocks in context of harrasment are not necessary top people by the number of blocks. In the top I suspect to be guys fighting vandals most actively, they are not necessary involved with more "social" blocks (though not necessary not involved too). Just a thing to keep in mind.
Nov 13 2017
Label service is also very slow, like 2 times slower than to just query labels a normal way, considering that map data processing is probably more complex than just fetching a label I am afraid that it won't work for any real queries with current timeout…
Nov 7 2017
Well I have encountered it with thank message, I guess on thank's part a good task out of this would be to provide more meaningful errors than "badtoken". As a user I am not supposed to even know any tokens exist at all. Information about failed session is at least providing some tip what to do.
On reload then I appear logged in again, though I still have the same problems. On other wikis (and other devices, the main thing why I loathe ever logging out on Wikimedia sites) I am logged out after that though.
On relogin I end up on https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralLogin/complete?token=REMOVED :
Central user log in
No active login attempt is in progress for your session.
The same. It actually turned out that I cannot edit too, the expired session thing (at least for edit the error is human understandable). I was reloginning already. Though when logged in Private tab I am able to edit. Also I can edit on Meta just fine.
While I support the request completely, the query linked can be optimised by using just one label language and dumping slow label service, I was able to get results for Wikipedia as big as German: http://tinyurl.com/ydczsfpo
Nov 3 2017
That was on try again on a wikimedia error (which did not have any information I could copy).
Oct 25 2017
At least for MediaWiki translations there are messages which are marked as optional and which exacly are different kinds of separators, brackets and so forth which one does not need to translate to get the default but can if default does not work. I think it is what should be done with the separator in this case if that is possible.
Oct 22 2017
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Mobile_Gateway/Mobile_homepage_formatting#MFSpecialCaseMainPage :
you wrap the main page block in div with that sort of id. You can also take a look at ukwn main page code for example.
It is also possible to run a bot a normal way (from personal computer or your own server) and ssh tunnel to Toolforge to run a database query (I believe it is easy to google how to do it for popular languages, I did not have trouble doing it in Java). It sucks comparing to direct access when you are running on Toolforge itself, the data transfer makes it so that sometimes it is faster to request stuff via Mediawiki API than like this (I am talking from experience), but it is still possible. Well, and it is the only way if you use proprietary components in your code so cannot comply with Toolforge rules. (Unless you create your own API there)
Oct 21 2017
Can't just space be added at the end of Условия использования?
Do you mean that adding id="mf-something" does not make the block appear on the mobile frontend main page?
Oct 20 2017
Are there some special requirements to marking of those pages? I opened a couple and see that they do not have <languages/> — is this deliberate? Must <noinclude> be used to add it? I can help with translate admin part if it is still needed but I need to make sure that the normal way of doing stuff would work well with dashboard.
Oct 19 2017
Haha, thanks!
Oct 16 2017
About Translate extension… If it is a translate adminship part it is about I'd first do it for existing translate admins. I have a feeling that many translate admins from both sides (volunteers/staff) have not read or have not read carefully enough the documentation. (Though it looks sever to me with staff as those get the flags by decree and thus have 0 review, while with community process some at least are asked about the docs)
Oct 13 2017
@Marostegui , not it was a one time exception. If nothing unusual happens then this can probably be closed.
